Thanksgiving is, by far, one of my most favorite holidays of the year. Thanks to my husband’s family, Thanksgiving is the holiday of the year with aunts, uncles, cousins and puppies traveling near and far to spend a few days in our home. Each meal is a production but thanks to years of perfecting a system, each family members knows their role and the whole weekend is a well-oiled machine.
My sister-in-law Lisa makes, like, 26 pies. After putting on sweatpants, we usually sit around, eat pie and try to vote a pie “off the island.” Cherry pie always gets the fewest votes, but thankfully its Lisa’s favorite and we don’t have to worry about reducing the pie roster for the following year.
Its tough to savor this sweet family moments. I think this year, I may try to write them down on these new notecards I whipped up and give them to family members that make Thanksgiving weekend magical.
